     197.  Reading and Dictation Practice
            Dear sir:  We have received your memorandum related to the difference in
            balances on our invoices and also your statement concerning
            discounts.  An examination of the principal points in the memorandum
            convinces me that a complete and careful analysis
            well have to be made before we can proceed to take any final
            action in these matters.

            It develops that our chief auditor
            is at present on his vacation.  It will be necessary to have his opinion and
            definite suggestions on the financial policy involved.

            You may be certain
            that we shall do everything possible to adjust these differences.  We are
            especially anxious to do this not only on account of our established
            policy of coöperating with our clients but also because
            of our peculiarly harmonious relations with you in the past.

            We hope to be able to give you a report on the situation within the
            next week or two as our auditor will return Monday and will
